I commented in my last post that many of the highly lauded features of the iPhone don’t’ really make any practical sense.
In this post, I’d like to explore that a bit more because it seems like a lot of things that get built just aren’t well thought out.
Take the Skype Mouse:
It’s a phone for making Skype calls as well as a mouse for scrolling around the desktop.
Not sure what the engineer was thinking. If i need a mouse and I have to make a phone call at the same time, how do I do that? It’s an interesting idea but it ends at interesting.
What I can say about the Skype Mouse is it’s freakish enough to keep us coming back for a second glance.
It seems to be a bad habit for engineers to just throw “stuff” at a problem to solve it. “Doesn’t meet market demand…a mouse just as a mouse won’t do…hmm….hmmm…I know! Let’s integrate Skype into it!” Brilliant! Or is it…?
I was going to post a video of a guy who “invented” a stick just for kicks when I came across this American Inventor (I do like the show but now without a TV I have no idea what’s happening…). I love this show because how humanizing it all is.
